Blue and green light in the 400-550nm range is detected by intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs), which signal directly to the suprachiasmatic nucleus - your brain's master clock.

This signal suppresses melatonin production and delays circadian phase. Red lenses cut this signal at the source. The result is melatonin rising on its natural schedule, not 60-90 minutes late.

When should I wear them?

Do they actually block blue light?

Yes - the red lenses filter 99%+ of blue and green light (400-550nm). This is the full wavelength range that suppresses melatonin production and signals alertness to the brain.

Standard yellow-tinted "blue light glasses" typically block 10-30% of blue light and do nothing meaningful for sleep. These are not those.

Can I use them with screens?

That's the point. They're designed specifically for screen use in the evening. Phones, laptops, TVs - the red lens colour distorts colour slightly but vision is otherwise normal.

Do they replace good sleep habits?
